AFTER FORTY-THREE YEARS
THREE SHILLINGS DEBT PAID Mr Adam Hodgins, a draper of Ncnagh, County Tipperary, Ireland, has received by post from New York a do.l , lar bill sent by an Irishman to pay a debt of 3s contracted 43 years ago. The letter accompanying the note ran. “Adam Hodgins. L have been owing you three shillings for 43 years. 1 am send ing you on one dollar and hope you may receive .it. I wish you good health and every blessing. You are a little, older than I am. T guess there arc not many of tho old-timers alive by this time. Good-bye.” The letter is unsigned. Mr Hodgins, who intends framing the letter in remembrance of an honest man, says he cannot recollect the transaction.
