The inaugural flight of the Hamilton Gliding Club ended disastrously yesterday when the machine nose-dived from a height of 30ft. and Jas Hunter, the pilot, aged 23. was badly bruised and shaken. Failing in an attempt to raise the machine by man power, it was hitched on to a motor truck. The machine rose, banked, and fell to the ground with considerable force.
