The owners, on being advised by telegram of the accident, sent a doctor in a seaplane and arranged for the Naval East to wireless the Dunedin (at manoeuvres in the Gulf) to pick up Wilson and transport him to Auckland. He was taken to hospital in the evening and is progressing favourably but it is likely that a hand will be amputated.
