DESERTED SHIP
SEAMAN BEFORE COURT.

BLENHEIM, Deo. S. Charged at the Police Court with sorting from tho ship Kia Ora at Wallington on May 14, 1928, a man named Owen Derrick, aged 41 years, pleaded guilty. Tho charge was an unusual one for Blenheim, and accused’s appearanet hero is accounted for by the faet that he was arrested at Wharanui.
Sergeant Petersen mentioned that the Shipping Coy. did not want the maa back. He added that police coate totalling £3 0s 6d had been incurred aid accused was in a position to pay. Derrick was convicted and fined £t plus £3 0s 6d costs.
