DOWN THE GRADES SATURDAY’S RESULTS In the lower grade cricket matches played on Saturday in splendid weather there were returned some good bowling figures, these being the feature of the day’s play. Following are some of the scores: — MARIST “B” AND IMLAY Marist took first strike and put on 62. F. Greener (16) and Wallace (20) batted patiently and saved a “rout.” C. COLLEGIATE V- MARIST Played on the Collegiate ground on Saturday, the match with Marist resulted in a win for Collegiate by 36 runs- Batting first, Collegiate compiled the handy total of 109 runs, their best run-getters being Reynolds (33), Ritchie (27), and Barron (16). Only one of the Marist bowlers, Bigham, seriously troubled the batsmen, and he came out with the fine “bag” of seven for 22. Marist made a disastrous start, seven wickets falling for 20 runs. Watts played a fighting innings for 26 not out, and got assistance from Neale only, who compiled a hurricane 29 before putting a leg m rront of a straight one. ARAMOHO AND TECH. COLLEGE,

Ou Peat Park on Saturday Aramoho, who were in equal position at the top of the list with two others in the second grade, were put down by Technical College. The latter have now played three matches and have won three, scoring 1000 points, while Railway and Watersiders are lying second with 750 points. Technical College put up a total of 144 runs, A. Main waring (48). Follas (23) and Thompson (20) being the principal scorers. Aramoho could not stand up to the Technical College bowlers, being all out for 18 runs. R. AFTER THE HAWKE CUP AN ELIMINATION MATCH WANGANUI AND TARANAKI On Friday and Saturday of next week the Wanganui eleven will play Taranaki at New Plymouth in a Hawke Cup elimination match, which will decide the challenger for a match for the trophy. The Wanganui team will travel to New Plymouth by the 3.20 p.m. train on Thursday, December 11, with Mr J. H. Williams as manager. They will stay at the Royal Tfotel, New Plymouth, and will elect their own cantain.

A second grade match has also been arranged with the Feilding Cricket Association. This match will take place at Wanganui on Thursday and Friday, January 1 and 2. All second grade players willing to take part in this match are requested to let the second grade selector (Mr J. Cameron) know at once.
