Nurse Astbury was granted leave by the Wanganui Hospital Board yesterday to attend a post graduate course in Wellington next year.
The Minister of Railways, the Hon. W. A. Veitch, is to leave Wellington for Auckland towards the end of this week to attend the official opening of the new Auckland Railway Station on Monday.
Archbishop Averill, who has been at tending the Lambeth Conference, is returning by the Orama, which is due at Sydney to-day. He is expected to arrive at Auckland before the end of the month.
Dr. G. J- Adams, the newly elected city of Wanganui representative on the Wanganui Hospital Board in place of the late Mr T. H. Battle, was welcomed to his seat yesterday by the Board chairman (Mr W- E. Broderick).
Mrs Alfred W. Jones, Boydfield Street, Wanganui East, after being an inmate of “Braemar” private hospital, for a wook, successfully underwent a rather serious operation yesterday, and from latest enquiries, was doing as well as could be expected.
Sister E. M. Aitken tendered her resignation to yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board in order to proceed on a trip to Great Britain. Tne Board placed on record its appreciation of her services and, although her departure is not to take place until about iDecember 15, granted her full pay until the end of the calendar year.
