HOSPITAL BOARD

THE MONTHLY MEETING GENERAL BUSINESS The Wanganui Hospital Board met yesterday. Mr W. E. Broderick presiding. There were, also present Hr. iS. Skerman. Dr. Mollie Christie. Dr. G. J-1 Adams, Mrs James Siddells and Messrs’ J. A. Morton. 11. Christensen, A. SColeman, D. D. Simpson and R. FarleyA report of the special committee set up to deal with the matter of an agreement with the Friendly Societies reported and submitted for the Board’s endorsement, recommendations as to what should operate as between the Board and the societies for the next 12 months. After discussion the Board adopted the suggestions subject to an amended word in the clause regarding the handing oxer and auditing of the books being approved by the societies. The Department of Health wrote expressing itself as in accord with the views of the Board with regard to the establishment of a maternity home at Ohakune. ReceivedA committee consisting of the chairman. Mr Morton and Mr Rogers, was appointed to purchase a ear for the Ohakune District Nurse with power to Mr Christensen referred again to the runway required for the Taihape Hospital as a safeguard against fire. He asked that that be completed or a fire hose be installed. The architect Mr T. H. Jamesi advised that he had recommended the work to be done, but. through some oversight the carpenter had not completed it on his last visit. The Board resolved that Mr Christensen and Mr James be empowered to employ the necessary labour and have the work completed.
