Mr J. Aitken has been re-clected to the Wanganui Education Board, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr A. H. Ross. There was only the one nomination for the vacancy.

countant. who has been pr nnotod to the Wanganui branch in a similar capacity, am] presented him with a case of pipes and a tobacco pouch. The opportunity was taken to welcome Mr C. E. Whittington, formerly of the Ractihi branch, who takes over the position vacated by Mr Morpeth. The manager, Mr R. C. Hay-Mackenzie, in making the presentation, congratulated Mr Morpeth upon his promotion, which, he hoped, would be but the forerunner of still further success for him in the bank’s service. Though glad to see one whom they all esteemed sincerely gaining the reward of his good service, they could not help but feel a sense of personal loss at his departure, and they asked him to accept the gift as a small expression of their goodwill. Air Hay-Mac-kenz’c also extended a hearty welcome to Mr Whittington. Air Aforpcth assumes his new duties to-day.
