SYDNEY MEAT STRIKE
W.ORK TO RESUME MINISTER ’S STATEMENT SYDNEY, Nov. 13. The Minister of Labour and Industry (Mr Baddclcy), announced that operations will recommence at the abattoirs to-morrow. The Meat Board and me union realised the seriousness of the situation as regards offal and an agreement was reached. KILLINGS BELOW NORMAL. FROZEN MEAT BEING USED. Received Nov. 14, 11.35 pm. SYDNEY, Nov. 14. Two thousand sheep and 500 cattle were slaughtered at the Homebush abattoirs, which rc-opencd to-day. The normal Friday killing would be 18,000 sheep and 1000 cattle. The officials estimate that there will be no shortage of meat till Tuesday. Large supplies of frozen meat arc being used.
Retail prices have risen 3d to 4d a pound.
