COMMONWEALTH LOAN
MR LYONS’ APPEAL CANBERRA, Nov. 14. Announcing the terms of the Com monwcnlth redemption loan, Mr Lyons said that it was being issued immediately. The Government hoped the people would co-operate in meeting the country's urgent obligations. JI r Latham and Dr. Page congratulated the Government on accepting the advice of the Loan Council in this matter. Dr. Page remarked that he thought it ludicrous that Australia’s financial credit should Be inferior to New Zealand’s.
MR LANG’S ORDER. THEN DROPS THE COUNCIL. Received Nov. 14, 11.20 p.m. CANBERRA,, Nov. 14. It is now revealed that Mr Lang secured the consent of the Loan Council to increase the conversion loan now on the market from £27,000,000 to £28,000,000, bringing forward his motion for the withdrawal of Now South Wales from the Council. It is stated that Mr Lang needed £900,000 to meet maturing New South Wales securities.
