INDIAN CONFERENCE
A REQUEST TOR PRAYER. [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, Oct. 30. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York and representatives of the Free Churches has issued jointly a request for prayer on behalf of the Indian Round Table Conference.
The appointment of Lieutenant-Gen-eral Sir Kenneth Wigram as Chief of the General Staff in India, in succession to Lieutenant-General Sir Cyril Deverell, with effect from March 21, has been approved. MRS SEN GUPTA ARRESTED PROMINENT CONGRESS WORKER DELHI, Oct. 31. Mrs Sen Gupta, the English wife of the prominent Congress leader and Mayor of Calcutta, has been arrested at Delhi with a number of Congress workers on a charge of being members of an unlawful assembly.
Mrs Sen Gupta was formerly Nellie Gray, a Cambridge girl. She has taken a prominent part in the Congress activities. Her husband, who is a lawyer, is at present awaiting trial at Delhi for sedition.
