BORIS AND GIOVANNA

THE NUPTIAL SERVICE CELEBRATIONS AT SOFIA SOFIA, Oct. 31. A nuptial service for Boris and Giovanna was celebrated at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. The procession entered the church between a double row of troops the Queen wearing a simply-made white dress with no train, a short tulle veil of diamonds, rubies and emeralds representing the Bulgarian colours belonging to Boris’ mother, the gift of King Ferdinand.

Their Majesties approached the altar over beautiful carpets strewn with flower petals. The president of the Holy Synod, accompanied by four Arch bishops, received and welcomed the bridal pair with a moving address. Their Majesties performed the ancient ceremonies prescribed by the Orthodox rites, kissing the crosfe and gospels and drinking consecrated wine from the same chalice, after which they were enthroned and received the congratulations of the great assembly. King Boris granted an amnesty to 1500 prisoners.
