DISTRICT CONVENTION. The W.C.T.U. District Convention was held on Thursday at Waverley in the Presbyterian schoolroom. Delegates were present from the four Wanganui Unions, Eactihi, Ohakune, and the local Union. The.Bov. Stewart, of Waverley, led the opening devotions and extended a very hearty welcome to the visitors. Bowls of Seautiful yiolets and other spring flo: ers delighted all, as they partook of much ajtpreciatcd morning tea. Mrs Duxlield, district president, took the chair. Reports from each union were read and a happy note of determination to go forward ran through them all.

Mrs Bathgate addressed the meeting on work amongst the children, urging all to sow the seed of temperance and purity in young lives. During the afternoon session Mrs Brady, of Gonville, led the devotions and gave a most inspiring address on “Woman’s Responsibilities.” Mrs Duxfield’s presidential address was listened to with appreciative attention, and all speakers were accorded hearty votes of thanks. Plans of work were discussed and delicious afternoon tea served by the Waverley Union. Election of officers resulted as follows: — President, Mrs Duxlield; secretary. Mrs Piper; treasurer, Mrs Hussey. In .ho evening a very fine social was held. Rev. J. Paterson, of Wanganui, and t party of entertainers were well re•eived by a good audience.
