MARTON’S NEW STAND
THE OFFICIAL OPENING The new stand erected on the Marton Park was officially opened, in the presence of about 300 people, by the Mayor of Marton, Mr E. Purnell on Saturday. In the course of his remarks at the opening ceremony rM Purnell stated that during the past five years the Council had spent £1172 on tho park. This meant an average yearly expenditure of about £240. Tho actual cost of the building amounted to £823. He concluded by congratulating tho architect and* contractor on tho lino work they had done. Mr Lloyd Hammond, on behalf of the Rangitikei Rugby Unidn, and Cr. MacKenzio also briefly addressed the gathering.
