AT THE RACES

On Saturday it seemed as though the second day’s race meeting would be spoilt by bad weather. The morning brought frequent showers of rain, but the day cleared up and everyone had the pleasure of spending a bright afternoon. The dressing was on the whole | varied, owing to the uncertainty of the weather earlier in the day. Encouraged by the bright sunshine of the afternoon many spring ensembles were worn by those who attended later in the day. Suits and ensembles were patterned with checks or flecks, while many tailored costumes were in black and black and white. There were spotted frocks and bolero suits in various materials, worn with the wide-brimmed hats of either soft felt or straw. Here and there among the crowd were noticed a few gaily coloured leather coats and berets as well as the usual number of fur coats.
