CHINESE “REDS”
BANKING NEW STYLE LONDON JUNE 10. Chinese Communists would like to run their banks on idealistic lines—idealistic that is, from the employees’ point of view, according to a letter published recently in the from F.J. W. Folliot, who described how the Chinese employees of the Hankow bank organised a union under Communist auspices. The following are some of the articles from the manifesto: 1. The bank shall not be allowed to close without the authorisation of the union. 2. One day’s salary for every two hours’ overtime. 3. In case of marriage or decease of a relative employees shall be granted one month’s leave on full pay and shall receive 200 dollars each. 4 Should the bank be forced to close each employee to receive one year’s salary. 5 Native employees shall be free from all responsibility. 6. Employees cannot be used for other purposes than those for which they are employed. 7. At every half-yearly balancing of the books all employees shall be entitled to three months’ extra pay. 8 Twice a year (end of January and December) they will receive one month’s extra pay.
