GOVERNMENT GRANTS SUBSIDY. [ Per Press Association 1 DUNEDIN, May 16. In response to repeated representations by the Mayor (Mr R. S. Black) to the Minister of Public Works, in the matter of work for relief of un employment in Dunedin, which has reached an acute state, the Minister has now replied that a £1 for £1 subsidy up to £lOOO has been approved on works the Dunedin City Council propose to undertake for the relief of returned soldiers. In addition, arrangements have been made for 125 rnfen from Dunedin to be placed on Government relief works near the city.
