WANGANUI RUGBY TEAM

TWO PROMINENT COACHES. MARK NICHOLLS AND A. MERCER Air Alark Nicholls and Air A. Alercer, whose names are linked prominently with All Black football, have advised the president of the Wanganui Union (Dr. G. J. Adams) that they will be in Wanganui to assist in preparing the home fifteen to play the British side in the first match of the tour. There is no name known better in New Zealand Rugby than that of Alark Nicholls. He has worn the All Black jersey times without number. On the famous tour of 1924, when New Zealand came back from Great Britain and France without defeat, Nicholls was credited with being the brains of the side. His effort at Capetown in the final test against the Springboks in 1928 is now a matter of history. As a Rugby tactician he has few equals. Air Andrew Mercer is considered to bo the finest Rugby trainer in New Zealand to-day. He will accompany the All Black side when it is chosen in readiness for the test .matches against the Britishers. Speaking to a “Chronicle” representative yesterday, Dr. Adams expressed pleasure at the fact that two so prominent Rugby enthusiasts would be on hand to give the Wanganui team a “brushing up” during the two days on which it would be assembled prior to the match. Arrangements are to be made for Alark Nicholls to lecture on Rugby topics to club coaches and others interested. This will probably be done on the Tuesday night prior to the match. .
