HARRIERS
WANGANUI CLUB A record number of Wanganui harriers turned out for the opening run of the season held from the residence of the president, Mr C. R. White, on Saturday. An easy three miles run was held over the Robert Avenue course. A handicap run in over the last mile resulted: Hoskin, lOsec, I; Minnell, 20sec, 2; Johnson, 40sec, 3; K. Johnson, scr, 4; B. Cave, 2sec, 5; C. Know’les, scr., 6. A pleasing feature of the afternoon’s run was the attendance of the vice-presidents and their wives—Mr and Mrs Bowland Young and Mr and Mrs Fred Payne. After the run, Mrs and Miss White provided afternoon tea, which was very much appreciated. Messrs B. Clark and G. Moore were unavoidably absent on Saturday. Next Saturday the members will run from the captain’s residence (Mr G. Moore), Lewis Avenue. All members are urged to attend and to bring a mate as a prospective member.
