Christmas Story and Poem Competition

Dear Readers All,— To-day I announce our usual Christmas Story and Poem Competition. This year, owing to the number of competitions provided for you by our grown-up 'ites, I have perforce been compelled to withhold my announcement until to-day. The last competition—the prizes for which Were so l(indly donated by our “Just Daddy,"—now awaiting the pleasure of our “Old Gran," who is to judge them, being finalised, 1 thought that I could safely publish the final competition of the year. Publication of our Hut’s Christmas Number is set down for issue upon the 22nd of this month, and as Mr Printerman desires all matter for our pages on Wednesday, December 18, / will have to malfe the closing date of our competition Monday, December 16; that will give you 10 clear days in which to write your stories and poems. You'll not forget the closing date, will you? Monday, 5 p.m., December 16. The usual conditions governing all our competitions will rule, in addition to which 1 add the following: Stories—not to exceed 500 words; Poems—not to exceed 6 verses. PRIZES— Xmas Story— l st 7/6; 2nd 5/-; 3rd 2/6. Xmas Poem— lst 7/6; 2nd 5/-; 3rd 2/6. Age Limit.—No member over the age of 16 will be eligible. All entries must be enclosed in separate envelopes, upon which is to be written:— "Xmas Story and Poem Competition," C/o "Wendy," P.O. Box 105, Wanganui. So there you are, dears. Out with pen and paper, and let all the grown ups see just what wonderful stories and poems you can write and compose. The Editor has told them to watch for your efforts, so do your very best, won't you? I want to feel prouder than ever of you if that were possible. WENDY.
