N.S.W. COAL CRISIS

MR BAVIN MEETS MINERS [ Australian Press /.sen. ] Received Oct. 2. 11 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 2. The Premier, Mr T. H. Bavin, met the miners’ representatives to-day and had a discussion on the coal commission’s findings. Mr Bavin expressed the hope that the miners’ representatives would arrange to meet the owners in conference. He gravely emphasised that the position was rapidly becoming critical and unless something was clone immediately important public services would close. The miners’ representatives argued with Mr Bavin, questioning the basis of the commission’s findings, and finally declaring that they are not prepared to accept any reduction in wages. They left the room without committing themselves to a further conference with the owners before next Tuesday.
