TIMBER STRIKE
ADVICE TO STRIKERS [ Australian Press Assn. ] SYDNEY, Oct. 2. Officially the disputes committee told a mass meeting of timber workers, who are out of employment as the result of a strike, that they would have to accept the 48-hour week if they desired reinstatement. The maeting instructed the committee to press for a settlement with the timber merchants on whatever terms they could make. It is estimated that over 1000 workers are idle as the result of the stoppage. _
