ROAD CYCLING
SATURDAY’S LONG RACE
Arrangements for the Palmerston North to Wanganui road race to be held next Saturday are now finalised and although only 28 entries have been received a good race should result. The road is in good order, with the exception of short patches, and should result in fast times being returned should tho weather conditions be favourable, Riders will experience some difficulty in negotiating the Turakina Hill, which is still under repair. Offcials for the race are: Starter, Mr F. W. Erskine; judges and timekeepers, Messrs S. Hewgill C. Chainev and C. A. Cave.
The riders are expected to finish about 2.30 p.m. or even earlier if a fine day is experienced. The race finishes at the Royal Hotel, Taylorville, and the presentation of trophies will take place after the event. In conjunction with the event a Scout Relay will be held over a four mile course. This is timed to start about 2 p.m. and will also finish at the Royal Hotel, so that patrons will have two events to watch.
