THISTLE CLUB’S PROTEST PLAYERS NOT REGISTERED A special meeting of the executive of the Wanganui Football Association was held last night. The business under consideration was a protest from the Thistle Club against the Eastbrooke Club who, it was alleged, played two unregistered players in the first round of the Charity Cup matches. The committee comprised of Messrs Scott, Savage and Campbell. Mr Dickson represented Thistle and Mr Glover Eastbrooke. After a discussion lasting nearly an hour and a-half, the committee* decided to award Thistle the tie against Eastbrooke on the grounds of Eastbrooke playing two ineligible players, their transfers not being in order. OPPOSITION .TO CODE EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOLS SUGGESTIONS SOUGHT I Per Press Association ] WELLINGTON, Oct, 1. Owing to the opposition experienced to enufeavour to intorduce soccer into tho secondary schools all associations arc to be asked to state the position of the game in the schools in their districts and to make any suggestions for fostering the game. Two associations have written to the New Zealand Council of the Football Association presiding for the matter to be brought to the notice of the Minister of Education. At the meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association last night a letter from Mr A. A. McLennan, Dunedin, stated that at the annual meeting of the South Island Primary Schools’ Football Association in Dunedin it was decided to draw the Council’s attention to the danger that existed in most of the centres of losing primary schoolboys who were entering secondary schools. The Canterbury Association wrote that an effort was being made to establish the code in the secondary schools there. The Boys’ Association had passed a motion that the Minister <be approached. Stout opposition was being encouraged from masters of the primary schools in many cases and the Canterbury Association would like to know if it was in tho power of a master to ban the code in the schools. It was decided to reply to both letters drawing attention to the announcement made in the ‘‘Education Gazette” by tho Director of Education and. asking for particulars of definite cases upon which action could be taken. It was further agreed to send a questionaire to all associations as to the position of the code in primary and secondary schools and asking for any suggestions as to how the game could be fostered in the schools
