General situation—The depression in the Tasman yesterday crossed the Dominion last night, but proved to be very shallow. It has, however, deepened somewhat to the eastward. A new depression is moving on to the south-west Tasman. Forecast—Winds: South-westerly at first and moderate to fresh veering later to west and north. Seas (New Zealand waters): Generally smooth to moderate. Weather: Cloudy to overcast at times, but mainly fair at first, later becoming unsettled in the western districts of the South Island, with so*me rain.
