BUSINESSMEN’S CONFERENCE A PROPOSAL UNDER WAY [ Australian Press Assn. J LONDON, Aug. 20. A definite move is afoot to arrangcfor an Imperial conference of business men on the eve of the Imperial Conference next year. Sir Gilbert Vylc is organising a meeting of the preparatory committee fully representative of British commercail interests, after which it is expected it will be possible to take the initial steps in focussing opinon on Empire trade. Banks will be invited to co-operate in the discussions. The Yorkshire Post says that it is hoped similar steps will be taken in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, after which the organisers will invite the Dominion business men to London and meet before the Imperial Conference to thresh out the Empire programme of trade and commerce.
