ENERGETIC WORKER

CAUSE OF CHARITY \ MRS J. McLEOD HONOURED A pleasing little function took place at the meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board yesterday when the members wished Mrs J. McLeod “many happy returns of the day.” Although she has attained her eightieth anniversary of her birthday, Mrs McLeod is an indefatigable worker in connection with the Board’s charitable aid activities. Mrs Dexter, welfare officer, informed the Board that Mrs McLeod had been doing splendid voluntary work for the last three years and despite her years, was working as strongly as ever. During the past six months she had made 550 new garments, including 210 trousers for boys, from 2 to 12 years of age. Dr. Molly Christie, in wishing Mrs McLeod “many hayyp returns of the day,” testified to her energy and the help she had been. Mrs Siddells also eulogised her work. The Board owed a debt of gratitude to Mrs McLeod, said the chairman, Dr. Skerman. He was glad to say how w much her work was appreciated. He emphasised what the other speakers had said and wished Mrs McLeod ‘‘many happy returns of the day.” As a further mark of appreciation, Mrs McLeod was presented with a birthday cake.
