MAN AND WIFE DRUNK
CAR’S ERRATIC COURSE [Per Press Association.] DANNEVIRKE, May 3. William Martin Kelly appeared before justices on two charges of being found in a state of intoxication while he was in charge of a motor car, while his wife was charged with being found drunk. Owing to the erratic course of the car was steering the police followed it, and when it stopped in a side street the driver and his wife were found in a very drunken condition. In the other instance Kelly, while drunk, on April 1, collided with a Gisborne car through being on the wrong side. The police sergeant said that Kelly was a menace on the road, not only to himself but to other people. Kelly was convicted and fined £lO on the first charge and his license was cancelled for three months. On the other charge he was convicted and discharged, being ordered to pay 12s costs. His wife was convicted and discharged on the charge of drunkenness. Both were prohibited for 12 months.
