THE ADDINGTON SALE

HEAVY ENTRIES [Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, April 17. Entries were heavy all round at the Addington market to-day. In the store sheep sections there were continued big entries. Ewes and store lambs wore also forward in heavy numbers, lor both classes there was a good free sale at prices varying from. Is to Is 6d a head better than last week. Fat sheep comprised the biggest entry of the season, but it was a particularly steady sale, prices being practically unchanged. A good class of fat cattle also maintained last week’s rates, but secondary sorts were harder to quit. Following wore the values: Store sheep.—Good Merino ewe lambs 25s lOd, medium ewe lambs 22s to 24s 7d, inferior to ordinary ewe lambs 19s to 21s 6d, medium wether lambs 18s 3d to 20s, inferior wether lambs 16s to 18s, cull lambs 12s 6d to 15s 6d, best m.s. half bred lambs to 245, best m.s. three-quarter-bred lambs 21s 9d to 23s 6d, best m.s. crossbred lambs 235, medium m.s. lambs 18s to 20s, inferior m.s. lambs 14s 6d to 17s, good two-tooth half bred to 345, ordinary two-tooth halfbred ewes to 31s 3d, inferior twotooth halfbred ewes 26s to 29s 6d, four six and eight-tooth halfbred ewes 28s 3d to 31s 3d, ordinary four, six and eight-tooth ewes 24s 6d to 27s 6d, s.m. halfbred ewes 22s 3d to 25s lOd, f.m. ewes 19s fid, to 225, cull ewes 13s to 15s, ordinary two-tooth crossbred ewes to 26s 9d, two-tooth threequarter-brod ewes 20s, s.m. Romney cross ewes to 27s 3d, f.m. crossbred ewes 18s, four, six and eight-tooth crossbred ewes 26s 3d to 28s , ordinary four, six and cighttooth crossbred ewes 24s to 265, good four, and six-tooth halfbred wethers 28s to 30s lOd, good four-tooth three-quarter-bred wethers 38s 3d. Fat lambs. —Extra prime lambs to 35s 7d, prime lambs 28s fid to 31s fid, medium lambs 26s 3d to 28s 3d, light lambs 23s 9d to 25s 9d.

Fat sheep. —Extra prime wethers to 425, prime wethers 32s to 355, medium wethers 28s (id to 31s fid, light wethers 26s 9d to 28s 3d, extra prime ewes to 31s lOd, prime ewes 25s to 28s, medium ewes 22s to 24s fid, light ewes 19s to 21s, aged ewes Ifis to 18s fid.

Fat cattle.—Extra prime heavy steers to £24 7s fid, prime heavy steers £.lB to £2O, medium weight prime steers £l6 to £lB ss, nfedium quality steers £l3 to £l5 10s, light steers £9 to £l2 ss, extra prime heifers to £l5 7s Cd, prime heifers £ll 15s to £l3 15s, medium heifers £lO 5s to £ll 10s, light heifers £7 to £lO, extra prime cows to £l4 17s Cd, prime cows £ll to £.12 10s, medium cows £9 to £lO 15s, aged cows £5 10s to £B. These prices were equivalent to 42s fid to 45s per 100 lbs for good beef, extra quality to 475, medium 40s to 425, best cow beef and medium heifer 37s to 40s, heavy and plain cow beef 31s to s*s, rough down to 27s fid. Vcalers: A large entry of mixed quality. Twelve to eightecn-niontlis’ calves to £lB 18s fid, good vcalers £6 to £7 10s, medium vcalers £4 to £5 10s, calves 35s to £3.

Store cattle. —Very small entry. Good cows £5 10s to £7, medium cows £3 to £5, inferior cows 30s to £2 10s, bulls £4 to £l2.

Dairy cattle.—Good second stud and fourth calvers to £l6 ss, medium sprts £ll to £l4 10s, inferior sorts £8 to £lO, forward heifers to £l4 10s, backward heifers £5 10s to £8 10s.

Fat pigs—Choppers 30s to £6 8s 6d, light baconers £2 15s t.o £3 10s, heavy baconers £3 15s to £4, extra heavy baconers to £4 8s fid, average price per lb s|d to fid, light porkers 32s to 40s, heavy porkers 42s to 53s fid, aveiagc price pei lb 7d to 7Ad. Store pigs.—Weaners 4s to extra 12s, small stores 9s to 12s, medium stores 14s to 18s, large stores L/s to 255, extra large to 28s r
