SMALLPOX CASES
FRENCH RESTRICTIONS [ Australian Press Assn. ] LONDON, April 16. A week ago several cases of c.n•fluent smallpox were discovered in England ami Scotland among passengers who came overland from Marseilles from the Bombay liner Tuscania, on which a case was diagnosed Delore she reached Marseilles. There was comment at the time that if more stringent measures had been taken at -Marseilles the disease would not have gained a footing in Britain. Now there, is a fierce outcry at the French announcement that Channel passengers will be refused entry to France unless they produce a certificate of vaccination within two months. It is pointed out that it will kill the tourist traffic and prevent the majority going to any part of the Continent. Representation to Paris for modifications have been fruitless. Passengers on Mnors from Australia calling at Toulon Or Marseilles will he affected. The first will be those on the Ormonde.
