ANDERSON'S FATE SOUTHERN CROSS TO LEAVE There was still no news this afternoon of Lieutenant Keith Anderson and Ills mechanic, Mr Hitchcock, who left Sydney on Sunday, April 7, in the aeroplane Kookaburra for Western Australia to assist in the search for the Southern Cross. Pilot Holden stated that all the Jircs seen on the 500 miles covered had been investigated, but none revealed any trace of Anderson. Two R.A.A.F. ’planes have arrived at Alice Springs and will search from there. Captain Matheson’s Goulb rn -Moth is being repaired at Duchess. He hopes to join in lhe search on -Monday. Air-Pilot Heath is taking petrul and oil to “Coffee Royal’’ to-day. It is expected that the mudflat will be dry enough to-inorrow to permit the Southern Cross to take the air. She will go to Derby. Natives from lhe Port George mission station are helping Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith and partv lo get the monoplane ready to take' off.
