AUTO ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Wanganui Automobile Association was held on Wednesday evening, when a lengthy order paper was gone through. In the initial stages, Mr N. R. Bain presided, but on thc arrival of the president (Dr. E. E. Porritt) he vacated the chair. Thc following members were present: Messrs H. G. Whit tall. J. Aylmer, P. D. England, G. V. Pearce. J. R. Franklin, and H. Rice. Service Officer It was reported that the, Service Officer (Air L. Dowling) had commenced duties. The secretary said that he had attended the Fcilding race meeting and the Wanganui Trotting Club’s Carnival, rendering service to motorists in difficulties and assisting to park cars. A letter was received from a member of thc Wellington Automobile Club expressing appreciation of ihe Wanganui officer’s assistance with mechanical work on a Sunday. Alcmbcrs expressed appreciation of the work done. The secretary reported that Air Symons was appointed to take charge of the parking stand in Iftgestro Street adjacent, to the Regent Theatre, and Air H. Greager to the stand in Maria Place. These appointments were confirmed.
