WAVERLEY PLUNKET SOCIETY The monthly meeting of the Waverley branch of the Plunket Society was held in the rest room on Tuesday, Airs Graves presiding. The nurse reported for the month ol Alarch: Visits to the office were: Adults 62; babies 55; children 17. Total 134. Babies on books, 55. New cases for Alarch: Al others 4 f babies 4, others 2- Total, 10. It was resolved to hold the annual meeting on Thursday, April 18. It was decided to hold the annual children’s fancy dress dance on Friday, Alay 24. Prizes will be given for the most original, prettiest, best advertisement, and most economical dress. School Affairs. At the annual meeting of householders lor the election of a school committee, Air E. Aitken explained the objects of the Calf Club. He said tin* dairying business was one of our main industries in this country and the Calf Club was set up to help in fitting the boys to carry on after leaving school. Air Aitken also suggested wool judging I competitions for the boys in the higher (classes, also a demonstration of how to work a sheep dog. which could be carried out at the annual sheep dog trials. Air J. Browning, headmaster, expressed the opinion that the Calf Club and Root Crops Competitions and other sports competitions were of great value to the pupils. They were an incentive to good citizenship. He thanked Air Aitken and Air Wallace for their endeavours on this behalf. Air E. <’. Dallison’s motion that it be a recommendation to thp committee to approach the Board with a view to establishing classes in wood work, cookery, sowing, etc. was carried unanimously. DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. A seven-shot trophy match was fired on April .13 on ranges of 500 and 600yds. Rifleman Tom Johnston and A'. Alartelletti tied with a score of 63, V. Alartelletti winning by 3 points in tlx*, shoot off. The. following arc the scores (including handicaps):—
