DENTAL CLINICS
THE POSITION IN TAIHAPE MARTON ACTIVITIES The Alinister of Health (the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy) has advised Air J. T. Hogan, ALP., for Rangitikei, that his Department is fully alive to the need for a dental clinic at Taihape. “In fact, when the services of a nurse had been available the school children there 1 were in receipt of dental treatment,” tho Alinister’s letter stated, “ buo the conditions for performing such were not satisfactory.” He had been advised that steps were being taken to provide suitable accommodation and no doubt as soon as service was available dental treatment would be resumed. Discussing the matter generally with a “Chronicle’’ reporter yesterday, Air Hogan said that the residents of Taihape were making an effort to provide suitable accommodation. He instanced the effort, which Alarton had made, where people living outside the clinic area had assisted in its establishment, despite the fact that they knew that they would receive no direct benefit from it. At present Alarton was desirous of having the clinic there open all the year round. At present it was the practice to open it for three months, close it for three months and re-open in like periods. The central school was tho only one which received treatment from tho clinic under present arrangements, but if tho hope to keep it open continuously materialised, then it was expected that Alarton Junction, and other schools adjacent to the town, would receive the benefits it afforded.
