Mr D. McFarlane leaves Wanganui on Wednesday on a trip to Samoa and tho Islands. Mr P. E. Tingey left yesterday for Auckland, and expects to return within a day or two. Judge Aitcheson of the Native Land Court, Auckland, and Miss Aitcheson are visitors to Wanganui and are staying at Hotel Braeburn. Judge Browne, who presided over the recent sittings of the Native Land Court in Wanganui left yesterday for Hawcra. The long period of service rendered by the late Mr AV, H. Bott, on the Northern School Committee, was referred to at least night’s annual meeting by the chairman, Mr W. Bruce, and a motion of sympathy with his relatives was carried by observing the customary moment of silence. Guests at Foster’s Hotel include the following:—Mr E. N. White, Mr J. Mason, Mr and Mrs H. Dearden, of Waiai, Canterbury; Air K. Afcßean Stewart, of Alasterton, and Air H. A. Collins, of Mangamahu. Air C. J. McLean, headmaster of Queen’s Park School, has received notice of his transfer to Dannevirke, and leaves to take up his new duties about the end of Al ay. At the annual meeting of householders of the Northern Schools’ district, held last evening, a tribute was paid to the work accomplished by Air AlcLean during his term in Wanganui and regret was expressed at his pending departure.
