SUDDEN DEATH ON RAILWAY CROSSING
LORRY DRIVER KILLED (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, Dec. 6. A shocking level crossing tragedy occurred near Alakauri, abo-.t seven miles from Gisborne, this afternoon, as the result of which a man named John Fenny, aged 45, was killed instantaneously. Penny was driving a motor lorry, and although there 's . clear view of the railway track for near] - a quarter of a mile at the crossing, while attempting to rosg in front of a goods train, his lorry was struck by the engine, Penny being killed instantly. The lorry was smashed to pieces. Deceased’s father is believed to be living in Auckland.
