PROTECTION OF INDUSTRIES [ Australian Press Assn. 1 AIELBOURNE, Oct. 5. Afr Scullin, Federal Labour Leader, outlining Labour’s policy at tho forthcoming elections, declared for the fullest protection of the primary and secondary industries. There should be a vigorous overhaul of the taxation machinery, unification of the State railway guages in order to reduce unemployment, abolition of compulsory military training, revision of thc Arbitration and Federal Crimes Acts, the creation of unemployment nsurance, the establishment of Commonwealth fire and life insurance, restoration of the per capita to thc States, migration to be checked u .til employment is fully provided for Australians, the abolition of the tax on mutual life societies, the establishment of a Government line of steamers with Tasmania.
Air Scullin deprecated strikes and lockouts .s obsolete and undesirable. Parties to awards and agreements should faithfully honour them.
