Transome, who was playing a great game, netted two goals for the home team, and the maten ended: Taihape 2, King Country 2. Messrs F. Moffitt and L. J. Patrick were referees. SCHOOL FOOTBALL. On Thursday the Taihape A team defeated Mataroa by 15 to 3 in a match played at Mataroa. The home team won the toss and played with the sun behind them. The Taihape forwards chiefly dominated the play and this was the chief cause of the visitors’ victory. M« Reid played well for Taihape and scored one of the best tries of the match soon after the commencement of activities. Steedman was the outstanding player on the Mataroa side and kicked a penalty goal for the losers. The Taihape A team has won the championship cup and is to be con gratulated on its fine achievement. PERSONAL. Mrs S. J. McDonnell, who was an inmate of the Huia Street hospital for some time, has returned to her home, and is making good progress. KING’S THEATRE PICTURES. Three star attractions show to-night at the King’s, ‘‘Ladies Must Dress” being the main feature. In this sermon of laughs, Victor Heerman, who wrote and directed the story, seems to have had one of his happiest inspirations when he selected Miss Virginia Valli for this production. She is ideally cast as a plain little stenographer in a big department store. The story is packed with humour. “Rocking Moon” is in support. The settings of this romance are in Alaska, and in it we see the famous Totem pole. No. 12 of “The Collegians ” will also be screened.
