Dr. Share, of the Health Department, was in Wanganui yesterday in connec tion with the proposed hostel site for the Technical College. Private cable advice has been received in Wellington stating that Sir Joseph Ward will leave London on July 24 and ’Frisco on August 8, on his return to New Zealand. A Sydney message reports the death of Mr Charles William Oaks, M.L.C., aged 68. He was a member of the Fuller State Ministry, and was a former Commonwealth Parliamentarian. He was universally popular. The Mayor of Wanganui (Mr W. J. Rogers) and the Town Clerk (Mr G. Murch) are visiting Wellington for the purpose of making further representations to the Government in connection with unemployment in the city. They will return to Wanganui to-morrow. The remains of the late Mr T. Breen, an ex-member of the Police Force, were laid to rest at the old Wanganui Cemetery yesterday. The local force was represented by Detective Revell and Constables O ’Brien, Grainger, Miller, Rogers and Mclntee who acted as pall-bearers.
