PLUNKET ROOMS
WANGANUI EAST PROVISION GENEROSITY OF DONORS Advice was recently received by the Wanganui City Council that certain anonymous dofibrS" wished to make a voluntary contribution of £2lO towards the erection of rooms for the Plunket Society on the site at the rear of the Wanganui East Town Hall. This contribution, it was stated was, made upon the understanding that the Council would obtain a subsidy of £1 for £1 under the relief of unemployment scheme and would proceed with the erection of the building forthwith. That a lease at a nominal rental be granted so long as the land is used for the purposes of the Society, was also asked. it was pointed out by the applicants that the land fronted a footway and provision would have to be made for proper access and the maintenance of the footway. The Council has accepted the offer on the conditions mentioned.
