A LUCKY ESCAPE

COLLEGE BOYS’ EXPERIENCE MOTOR CAB STBUCK BY TRAIN. [ Par Press Association. 1 AUCKLAND, June 25. A miraculous escape was experienced by two King’s College pupils at the Mangere railway crossing shortly before 6 o’clock on Saturday evening, when a small two-seater motor car which they occupied was struck .by a north-bound train. Although the car was overturned and thrown some distance neither occupant received more than a .shaking. The two youths, aged 17 and 16 respectively, had played f r [King’s College in a football match against Auckland Grammar School in the afternoon (won by King’s by 11 to 5). They are both boarders and were returning to King’s College when the acc 'ent occurred. The gates open on to the ad only a few yards from the railway line. The car was almost over the line when the engine struck it. The back portion received the ’orce of the impact, which hurdled the small car aside and overturned it. Neither youth was injured, and the car was at once placed upon its wheels. The damar was not very great, and the motor was driven on to the school under its own power.
