“TOTE” INVESTMENTS
AUCKLAND PROVINCE TOTAL. THIS SEASON’S INCREASE. - ( Special "Chronicle” Service. J AUCKLAND, June 7. The sum of £2,581,544 10s has already been put through the totalisator this season by supporters of racing and trotting in the Auckland province. The Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting is yet to be held and another fixture still before Racegoers in the current season is that of the Te Kuiti Club, which this year will race at Ellerslie. As the figures now stand they are only £478 10s behind those for 1926-27. When compared with the season of 1925- the progress total is lower by £383,027 10s, and carried back to 192425 it is down by £227,503. Racing with £1,982,677 has accounted for the greater part of the season’s investments and of this amount the city clubs’ meetings produced £1,313,925. In th? previous year the city clubs accounted for £1,254,728, a total which shows this season to have the advantage by £59,17fl 10s. Country racing clubs have also had the experience of larger investments this season. Their total to date is £668,752, an increase of £62,994 on 1926-
