COURT SITTING. The monthly sitting of the Waverley Magistrate’s Court was held on Thursdav, before Mr J. S. Barton, S.M. The first case was Police v. McMahon. McMahon had been previously charged with the theft of a pair of field glasses, also with damaging them and had been committed to the care of the child welfare officer, who had submitted a satisfactory report, in view of which accused was convicted and called upon to come up for sentence within two years. T. Johnston, for failing to comply with the necessary regulations with regard to scaffolding, was fined £1 on each charge, with Court costs 10s and witnesses expenses ss. Isaac Bason (Mr G. H. Graham) pleaded guilty to failing to notify the inspector that excavations were being made. Defendant was fined £2 with Court costs 10s and 5s witnesses expenses. In the case J. L. Fogarty v. H. Middleton, Mr W. Rutherford appeared for plaintiff and Mr G. H. Graham for defendant. The claim was for £2O for timebr alleged to have been movedfrom Whenuakura beach in May, 925. After hearing witnesses for both parties judgment was allowed for defendant, with solicitor’s fee £3 3s and costs £1 Bs. SPORTS AT WAVERLEY. The public. of Waverley will be well catered for to-day, there being irnateur ahtletic and cycling sports on the Domain, w* ich are sure to be a |big draw. TOWN IMPROVEMENTS. i Work has commenced on the metaliling in preparation for the far scaling of the sides of the main treet, which will be a great improvement to the town. "Work is also progressing rapidly with the new post office, a building badly needed in Waverley.
