NORMA SHEARER HAD TO LEARN FENCING
HER PAET IN “THE DEMI-BRIDE” Motion picture acting provides a liberal education —if you keep at it long enough. To her long list of accomplishments, acquired in connection with her work. Nonna Shearer has just added fencing. She learned this in order to role of the French school girl in “The Demi-Bride.” a new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture which comes to the Maje?tie Theatre on Wednesday next. These are some of Miss Shearer’s recent pictures and various subjects she had to become acquainted with before >he could attempt the stellar roles: 44 The Devil’s Circus” —Trapeze performing. “The Waning Sex” —Law. and legal procedure. 4 4 His Secretary ’ ’ —Stenography. 44 Upstage”—Stage dancing. 44 The Demi-Bride” is a frothy. French romance which will enthrall picture-goers with its modern, sophisticated story. The picture was directed by Robert Z. Leonard, and the cast includes Carmel Myers. Dorothy Sebastian, Lionel Belmore and Tenen Holtz.
