AT LAST
FLAPPERS TAKE A BACK SEAT Flappers took a back seat at a tea at No. .10. Downing Street, London, the official residence of the British Prime Minister, the other day. The charwomen who tidy up the Whitehall Government Buildings were having thefr innings at an “at home” given them specially by Airs Baldwin, wife, of the Prime Minister. There were sixty-odd. women, all having grown gray in this branch of the Government service, and Airs Baldwin received her guests in the reception hall so often trod- by the mighty. In their Sunday clothes they felt more at home than a great many other visitors at, No. 10, as they -were familiar with the premises from, basement to attic.
