SOCIAL AND DANCE. [ Special ” Chronicle ” Service ] A very pleasant social and dance was given to Mr Fred Harper junr. at Te Huia on Wednesday evening. Dancing, songs and recitations under the able direction of Afr Phil Chapman, kept the gathering of soma 70 people well occupied. During the evening Air Chapman, on behalf of the district, presented Air Harper with a pair of easy chairs. He said ho “was acting as spokesman for Afr Harper’s many friends, who wished to express their appreciation of his worth and help in everything for the good of the pjace, and also to convey hearty good wishes for his future welfare and happiness in his married life.

Hearty cheers greeted Air Harper as he rose to express his thanks for tho very valuable present, and for the kind wishes. He said he certainly never expected anything like what he had received. Further he hoped to see them all when settled in his new homo, and he could assure them a very warm welcome.

After supper, which was served by the ladies, the gathering broke up with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne."
