INTOXICATED MOTORIST
A STIFF PENALTY LICENSE SUSPENDED At the Alagistrate ‘s Court yesterday before Air J. S. Barton, S.AL, Frederick John \ icks was charged wrth driving a car while in a state of intoxication. He pleaded guilty. Sergeant Sivycr said, that a constable had noticed accused proceeding along Ridgway Street and had followed and found him to be in a state of intoxication. This happened on Afarc.h
\ icks said, he was a farm manager but was not a habitual drinker. He asked if the Alagistrate could impose a fine and not cancel his license. He wanted the Alagistrate to allow him to take out a prohibition order against himself. His Worship said ho must protect the. public. There were at least two cases a week of this sort. Accused: That i> not the case wi lhe Bench: Oh no! They only com® before us once.
The Alagistrate said if he let the accused retain his license he would have to impose a term of imprisonment. He would be convicted and fined £2O. his license to be suspended until April 20, .1929.
