THE FERTILE SOUTH
FARMERS ON TOUR CANTERBURY VISITS SOUTHLAND i Per Press Association. ] INVERCARGILL, Alarch 29. Canterbury farmers, numbering nearly 800, have spent two days motoring in Southland. They express themselves as astounded at the extent of agricultural and pastoral country. They have been received by the local bodies at various centres and royally entertained. The weather, which was inclement at the outset, has since been fine, enabling the visitors to get a splendid view of the country. Last night an official dinner was held in the Drill Hall, when 800 were present. The ladies were entertained at a separate function to-day. Half of the party left in brilliant sunshine for Stewart Island by the tugs Southland and Theresa Ward. The other half, who to-day will be the guests of the .Southland Racing Club, will visit the island to-morrow.
The visitors, who are delighted with their reception, will return home on Saturday.
