“TAIHOA! TAIHOA!”
HEALTH DEPARTMENT’S CRY. TUBERCULAR TREATMENT URGENTLY NEEDED. [ Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, March 28. A sweeping attack on the stand taken by the Health Department in regard to the treatment of tuberculosis was made by Mr A. T. Smith, chairman of the* Pubic Health Committee of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, at a meeting of the Board today. “The fact of the matter is,” ho said, “that fight as much we can, T.B. is a Dominion Dr. Valintine in every line of his letter says: ‘Taihoa, taihoa!’ Our motto must be 4 Act,’ and to the devil with ‘Taihoa.’ ”
Eventually the Board decided to ask the Government for a grant of £2OOO to build a ward for male T.B. cases at Cashmere.
