BY RAIL TO TAURANGA THE OFFICIAL OPENING. [.Par Press Association. I TAURANGA, Alareh 28. Tauranga was en fete today for the opening of the East Coast railway between Waihi and Tan eat ua. Approxmately 1500 people assembled on the stand, including hundreds of Alaoris, who accorded the Ministerial party an effusive welcome. The official party included the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, and the Hons. K. S. Williams and A. D. AlcLeod, and Alessrs C. E. AlcMillan, F. F. Hockly, J. Rhodes, A. Al. Samuel, Lee Alartin, and H. H. Holland. Air Coates was accorded a wonderful weJcome Replying, he traced the history of railway operations in the Bay of Plenty, and referred to the communication of hopes and endeavours with the 'lathering to-day—the largest in the history of the Bay. The town is gaily decorated, and a big programme of attractions is arranged for the day and evening. Trains from Taneatua and Waihi brought about 5000 visitors. Features are the great assembly of children and Alaoris.
